Volkswagen Amarok V8 Passion Desert by MTM

After all that Geneva awesomeness, speed and overall cool design, I felt the need for somewhat of a brutal, sturdy vehicle to make my day, and the people at MTM were more than glad to deliver. This is the Volkswagen Amarok V8 Passion Desert, an off-road version of their previous V8 model. Are you ready? You should; as this truck is properly equipped to handle anything.

Powering up this Volkswagen Amarok is no longer the 2.0-liter TDI engine, as it was replaced by the 4.2-liter TDI V8 (also VW-built). Even more outrageous is the fact that MTM went for an upgrade to that already huge and powerful engine, enabling it to develop 410 hp and 930 Nm (685 lb ft) of torque. An eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox is in charge of sending all that powering to all four corners.

But don’t think this is a slow brute, as the MTM VW Amarok V8 Passion Desert will do 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph), although I’m not sure if that’s on tarmac or rough terrain; surely, this truck looks capable to give it all, no matter the running surface. The Amarok you see here rides on BBS 10 x 20 in alloys, wrapped around in 305/50 Cooper off-road rubber.

Upgrading the braking system seemed like the next logical step, and MTM went ahead to do that. The garage installed a set of 405 mm front discs and 356 mm ones at the back. Don’t tell me you went to Geneva and missed this truck; I know it was there! Regardless, MTM says that the Amarok V8 Passion Desert will cost you around 200,000 Euros ($220k), with the donor car included. So, if you want to see one, ignoring the gallery below, you really have to cough up some serious cash.
