Renault Clio RS 16 Concept

Renault Sport’s fastest model so far, the special Clio RS 16 concept gets everyone’s attention ad reminds us all about the company’s racing legacy. Making use if a Megane RS 275 Trophy R’s engine, there’s no way in hell this thing could be slow; far from it.

This was quite the surprise, but the engine and manual gearbox from the hardcore Megane fits perfectly into the lighter Clio RS and is bound to make some waves, if not brake some track records. Renault Sport’s 40th anniversary is marked with the new Renault Clio RS 16 concept, which brags about various enhancements; for example, its chassis and suspension were derived directly from motorsport applications.

Hiding under the bonnet is the 275-hp 2.0-liter turbo engine, which meant the car has to be revised in order to correctly house the powertrain and the cooling system. As such, the bodywork is now 60 mm wider. The team went on to add the Megane RS 275 Trophy-R one-way adjustable shocks, as well as its braking system featuring 350 mm steel discs.

The rear axle was sourced from the rally R3T Clio, while the vehicle rides on 19″ wheels. It’s well worth mentioning that only two units became a reality, thus far, with the shiny yellow one serving as the concept car, while the dark one being put through its paces. No matter the price-tag, once this hits the dealer’s, I’m gonna want one!
