Nissan NV Cargo X
The Nissan NV Cargo X proves anything is possible, and I mean anything – if you have the resources, that is. The company decided it was time for a hard-core off-road vehicle based on its garden variety NV 2500HD cargo van, and the expertise of Ian Johnson helped with that.
The original body and frame remain, although many other elements have been replaced. Under the hood, you will find the Titan XD’s Cummins 5.0-liter V8 diesel good for about 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. Mated to the Titan’s 6-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system, this engine is bound to make some magic.
The NV Cargo X’s van body and truck powertrain sit on top of a completely reworked suspension system. Nissan went for fitted heavy-duty leaf-springs and shocks to the rear, as well as a coil-sprung front axle. The suspension raises the ride height and delivers 22 inches worth of ground clearance.
A collection of practical trail accessories are also part of the package, with the NV Cargo X has plenty featuring a trio of LED auxiliary lights at the front, right A-pillar, and a tough tube-frame bumper with a skid plate. was fitted to the nose. The bumper is home to a 10,000-pound winch, while on the interior you will find a full-size 37-inch spare, recovery equipment, high-lift jack, a welder, tools, and compressed air. Feel free to check this thing out at the Chicago auto show, since it won’t make it to the production line any time soon.
