Etos by Rinspeed
Some might remember this incredible concept being teased a while back, but Switzerland-based specialists at Rinspeed have revealed the „Ʃtos“ hybrid sports car, and it’s simply mesmerizing. The skilled team is well known for focusing on interesting themes in the automotive world by designing and developing unique creations.
They’ve decided that this project would focus on “self-driving cars” and the concept’s effect on our imagination. sure, Tesla’s got that covered, with other manufacturer coming strong from behind; but, considering the tragedy at the beginning of July, involving the ‘autopilot’ module and the death of a Tesla owner, things aren’t as safe and relaxing as we want to believe.
Moving on to the Etos, which started off as a BMW i8, as the vehicle offers an interesting perspective of the driver and passengers; basically, Rinspeed researched the perfect balance between the human component and advanced technologies that would deliver the perfect driving experience.
As such, the Etos comes packed with various futuristic technologies meant to make the driver unneeded. Please note the incredible interior, showing off a folding and retracting steering wheel; it seems to disappear into the dashboard, with two curved 21.5-inch ultra-HD monitors delivering any and all necessary info the passengers need. The infotainment experience had to feature Harman Connected Car technology, with a voice controlled personal assistant taking care of any and all needs.
The outside environment is monitored by 8 HD exterior cameras, delivering 180-degree panoramic views in front and behind the vehicle; this system also acts as mirrors, with no blind spots or people and animals putting a dark spot on the driving experience. But wait, there’s more; did I mention the on-board DJI drone?
This thing comes complete with landing platform, complemented by 12,000 individually controlled LEDs. The drone will take pictures and shoot cool videos, among other things. At the end of the day, some might consider the Etos to be just an enhanced BMW i8, riding on 20″ Borbet GTX alloys. I choose to see it as the next step in automotive design. Any thoughts?
