Audi R8 LMS GT4

Do you remember when the Audi R8 launched, back in 2006? That was a shocking moment, and yet the R8 V10 has since continued to evolve, with the Audi R8 LMS GT4 being the most outrageous version yet. Powered by a screaming, naturally-aspirated V10 engine, this Audi keeps in line with current FIA regulations, which is why the engine only develops 495 hp – it doesn’t sound like much, but reliability comes into play when race cars are concerned. The racer shares 60 percent of its parts with the road-worthy model, which means the car is both reliable and performance-oriented.

Speaking of performance, the Audi LMS GT4 is supposed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 4 seconds and achieve a top speed of over 250 km/h (155 mph) – I’m guessing the massive wing and diffuser on the back will help with maneuverability issues. Audi has always made safety a focus in its racers, which is why the LMS GT4 is packing an 118-liter (31-gal) cell and an FIA-approved seat. Please note the inbuilt fire-suppression system, and a hatch in the roof makes it easier for rescue crews to access an incapacitated driver – ket’s hope that won’t be necessary. A multifunction steering wheel and data logger will make the driver’s job way easier on the road towards 1st place.
