2017 Geneva Motor Show – Tata Racemo Concept
Indian manufacturer Tata Motors made a bold statement, at least in my opinion, at Geneva. The Racemo sports car is a two-seater marvel, capable of doing 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds. Although we’re dealing with a concept, it might be that the experimental division will make this happen one day. The Tata Racemo is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine, with the tiny powerplant developing 190 hp and 210 Nm of torque. Those are not big numbers, but they are from an engineering point of view; furthermore, a six-speed automated manual transmission fitted with paddle shifters makes it all happen.
The Racemo is built using Tata’s new Impact Design language, hence the large grille and impressive rear fascia. From styling and design to driver experience and technology, RACEMO is an attempt at a radical new presence on the market. While Tata didn’t provide an exact date for the launch, it is expected to showcase the production-ready version at the Auto Expo in India in 2018. The question is this: would you want one of your own?
