2017 Geneva Motor Show – Audi Q8 Sport Concept
What about a mild hybrid sporty SUV from Audi? The company’s fresh SUV concept was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show after keeping everyone on the edge of their seats with various rumors and such. The Audi Q8 Sport Concept packs a hybrid powertrain that outputs 469 hp and 700Nm of torque, resulting in 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 170 mph (275 km/h). A 3.0-liter V6 TFSI works alongside a 20kW electric motor while a small lithium-ion battery pack hiding under the luggage compartment provides quiet traffic and parking manoeuvres. With a driving range of up to 746 miles (1,200 km), this Audi is definitely worth the attention.
A feature worth discussing is the electric compressor Audi has added to the twin-turbo V6, meant to allow the driver experience a lag-free acceleration while the eight-speed automatic gearbox sends power to all four corners. Tests have allowed Audi engineers to feel confident, which is why the mild-hybrid powertrain will be added to future A6, A7, A8, and Q7 models. On the inside, several digital displays have made their way, including the 12.3″ Virtual Cockpit and the head-up display. Please note the 23″ alloys, 20″ ceramic disc brakes and the adjustable ground clearance. Come 2018, we will find out more about the Audi Q8 Sport.
