2017 Geneva Motor Show – 2017 Honda Civic Type R
The 2017 Honda Civic Type R arrive at Geneva, and it’s ready to make your day. Packing a turbocharged engine, manual transmission, and an enormous rear wing working alongside a three-exhaust system, this thing looks awesome. Better yet, none of the prototype’s aggression has been left behind, complemented by LED lights, 20″ alloys, and ContiSportContact tires.
A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder was chosen to send its power through a short-throw, six-speed manual transmission with active rev matching. Here is where things get odd, as U.S.-spec versions will be bragging about 306 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, while Europeans will be enjoying 315 hp.
A limited-slip differential will keep everything fun and safe, together with the dual-axis front suspension and multilink rear setup with adaptive dampers. Brembo front brakes with 13.8-inch rotors at the front and 12-inch rotors at the rear will get you to a complete stop – will you go for the Comfort, Sport, or +R driving mode?
According to Honda, the Type R comes in fully-loaded Touring spec – a seven-inch touchscreen display, with navigation, premium audio, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto are included. Pricing will be available closer to launch, but it would be fair to expect it to go on sale for about $35,000.
