2016 New York Motor Show – 2017 Subaru Impreza
New York saw the world début of the new generation 2017 Subaru Impreza, which comes in sedan and 5-door hatchback form. I have to admit, I always feel a unique feeling of excitement and anticipation every time a new Impreza shows up – regardless of pricing and other such trivial detail. It’s worth mentioning that the Japanese car manufacturer will start selling said vehicle starting the end of the year.
So, is there reason to get excited? The new Impreza shows off a new exterior design, as well as a modified interior. In comparison to its predecessor, the new Impreza (both the sedan and the hatch) is slightly larger. 1.6 inches longer, 1.5 inches wider and 0.4 inches lower, the 105.1-inch wheelbase upon the car has been built allows this version of the much-appreciated car to offer its driver and passengers more interior space.
Powering up the The 2017 Subaru Impreza is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine, with direct fuel injection, developing 152 hp; now, that sounds completely unsatisfactory, not to mention unworthy of the Impreza label. There’s no word on other specs, or performance info, but we do know that a Lineartronic CVT transmission and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system are also part of the offer; please note that the new gearbox features a 7-speed manual mode function. That engine doesn’t sound exciting at all!
The 2017 Subaru Impreza also shows off 16- or 17-inch alloys, a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen, LED Steering Responsive headlights, Keyless Access & Push-Button Start and an 8-inch color display. The safety equipment list includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning; the long list is complemented by a Lane Keep Assist function, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert as well. Looking good, right?
