2016 Geneva Motor Show – 2016 Volkswagen UP
The smallest vehicle in Volkswagen’s line-up has received a major update and showed up at this year’s Geneva Motor Show to brag about it. The 2016 Volkswagen UP now features a slightly tweaked exterior, but the hood now houses a more powerful engine to take you on your journey, while you enjoy the latest interior technologies.
The new Up TSI comes with a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, developing 89 hp and 118 pound-feet of torque. According to VW, the tiny vehicle equals the original Golf GTI hot hatch in terms of performance: 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 10 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph. Please note the small exhaust pipe sticking out of the rear, hinting towards extras performance.
The Up’s modern design is now complemented by some light touches, such as extra sculpting on the front bumper LED running lights, side mirrors with integrated turn signals and so on. The back side now features added creases and new taillights, although none of these mods really shout out at us.
The refreshed Volkswagen UP was designed to be a more useful car, especially around a busy city. The new Composition Phone infotainment system, with a 5.0-inch screen and smartphone integration, allows drivers to pair their device via an app to display navigation, vehicle data, music, and much more. The multi-function steering wheel and automatic climate control should come in handy, as well, not to mention a 300-watt Beats Audio stereo with seven speakers. A big offer for such a small package!
