These days, whatever you dream about, the car manufacturer will deliver. If you ask me, however, the SUV-range is more stylish, than off-road worthy. On the other hand, the luxury cars are trying to get faster and more interesting, resulting in a new breed. The 2005 Mercedes E-Class by Kleemann is none of the above, but better than both categories. This tuning project may be 10 years old, but that doesn’t make it any less cool. Based on the previous generation of the Mercedes-Benz E500T, it features raised suspension and a 59-hp engine, along with four-wheel drive.

This stylish wagon will do 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds, while riding 50 mm higher than the standard E-Class. The Denmark-based tuning company made this possible by working their magic on the E-Class crossover. The engine and gearbox were dropped 30 mm, however, so you might want to be careful while driving off-road.

Special wheels, tires and a full boy kit were all designed around the W211 version of the E-Class Touring. This last piece is what really sells it as an alternative to the Audi A6 Allroad. Just like crossovers of today, it’s got black plastic covers for the wheel arches, scuff plates at the front and rear and under-body protection for the engine and gearbox. The 5-liter V8 engine was upgraded, and now features the Kleemann kompressor, a reprogrammed ECU, tubular exhaust headers and Super Sport camshafts. This might be a difficult car to find, but if you do, don’t hesitate; you won’t regret it!
